Beet Kvass

The word Kvass in Russian means "sour beverage" and is still the drink of choice on the street corners of the Ukraine, Poland and Russia. Kvass made from beets contain natural occurring nitrates which helps dilate blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure overall. Beets contain an antioxidant known as alpha-lipoic acid, which has been shown to lower glucose levels, increase insulin sensitivity and prevent oxidative stress-induced changes in patients with diabetes.
